Raising funds, engagement and heart rates with Grainger PLC

Most importantly, by engaging everyone, GoJoe helped us far exceed our fundraising target, which will hopefully make a real difference.

Grainger PLC were looking for a digital solution to combine getting active with an employee-led charity fundraising campaign. They wanted to unite and engage colleagues across the UK by motivating them to do more exercise and to do so while raising money for a great cause along the way.  

 

The Solution:

Grainger turned to GoJoe for support and to create a team-based active challenge, ‘Get Active for Grace’. The challenge, via their own branded organisation section of the app, gave a one-stop-shop for the campaign, allowing colleagues to:

  • Compete with and against each other
  • Track their team and solo activities and the all-important places on the leaderboards
  • For everyone to take part. Inclusivity was vital and GoJoe’s weighted points system allows all activities to compete – not just the runners, walkers and cyclists – and to get away from everyday steps
  • Engage with colleagues via chat groups and individual profiles
  • And, most importantly, to link to the fundraising page to ensure the campaign clearly signposted the ‘why’ and the ‘how’ of what they were raising money for

As ever with a team challenge, the Grainger team were given access to the wider features of GoJoe Premium to help motivate them even further and give them some inspiration for the challenge.  

 

The Results:

We know our team challenges get people moving but the extra incentive to raise money for a great cause really sparked the Grainger team into action.

It also allowed remote teams to come together through a common campaign and work together in something much bigger than actual work.

In just two weeks…

Headliners:

  • 52% of Grainger PLC workforce took part
  • Raised 4x the fundraising target (great work, Team Grainger!)
  • 48 teams and 185 participants
  • 3,311 activity sessions logged
  • 9,628km travelled (which is London to Hong Kong)
  • 104 days of combined exercise
  • 902,725 calories burnt (which is 316 pizzas)

Per Joe:

  • 10 sessions per week of exercise
  • 1 hour of exercise per day
  • 52km travelled
  • 5,310 calories burnt

Without question GoJoe elevated our challenge and enhanced the results way beyond our expectations. Through GoJoe, a huge number of Grainger colleagues came together to achieve a shared goal and do something meaningful. This challenge brought people from offices all over the UK together, it became a talking point amongst colleagues and the leaderboards and awards provided a good level of friendly competition and interest. The results show the power of many individuals working together and the stats are something we can all be proud of. Most importantly, by engaging everyone, GoJoe helped us far exceed our fundraising target, which will hopefully make a real difference to Grace, our former colleague”.
